How to Get to Heaven!

God wants everyone to be saved. That is why he sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins so that we could go to heaven! Read on to find out more.

God's Gift of Salvation

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." - Romans 6:23

A wage is a payment that you earn. An example might be getting paid for working a job. We are all sinners according to Romans 3:23 and what we earn because of sin is death. This death is both a physical death and a spiritual death (spending eternity in the Lake of Fire apart from the presence of God). The Bible tells us that Hell was created for the devil and his angels, not for mankind. God does not send anyone to Hell. Man makes the choice to go there by rejecting Jesus Christ and what He did for us on the cross. Before anyone can be saved, there must first be a realization that they have sinned against a holy God. Sin separates us from God. If that was the end of the story, there would be no hope for us.

However, God has freely given us a gift. The gift is eternal life. Just as a gift can only be received if you accept it, eternal life can only be received by accepting what Jesus Christ did for us. The Bible says in I Corinthians 15:3,4, that Jesus died for our sins, was buried for three days, and rose again. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Your works cannot save you, church cannot save you, baptism cannot save you. Even living a moral life will not save you. Only Jesus can save! There is only one way to Heaven and that is through Jesus Christ.

Today, will you accept or reject this free gift of eternal life? Are you willing to turn from your sin and turn to God? If you choose to accept this gift, pray a simple prayer to God. There are no special words to say. The Bible says that "with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." - Romans 10:13
