About Scott Mullis

I got saved by the Grace of God in June of 1980. It has been 31 years now and I love him more everyday. I met my wife Sandy in church and we were married April 20, 1990. We have been serving the Lord at Cozaddale Baptist Temple for a little over a year now. We love our church.

April 7 – Scott Mullis

When we took the Kassners home I had the opportunity to speak with a nurse named Angie. Brother Kassner had invited her to church earlier in the day. She had some church experience as a young girl and she got out at about age 16. She seems to be looking for real Christian people. She talked about her experience being people who preach one thing on Sunday but don’t live it during the week. I told her I would pray she could get past all that and get her eyes on the LORD and invited her to come to visit Cozaddale Baptist…we aren’t perfect but our church is serious about honoring GOD all week. She said she just needed to get past herself.

I told her I would pray for her and hoped she would come soon. Her name is Angie…please pray for her.

When we dropped Brother Kassner off Sunday morning I had the opportunity to see Jody (Gibson) Reynolds again. She had said she was going to come and visit the church several weeks ago. I asked her if she was still planning to come and visit with us and she confirmed she was still planning on doing so.

Please remember to pray the Lord would deal with her about attending soon.

Brother Kassner called on Wedsnesday of this week and said he spoke to a lady named Shirley who was interested in coming to church on the bus. Brother Davis and I followed up and Shirley committed to coming on Sunday evening. As it turned out the big church bus had both batteries go bad Saturday, last Sunday our bus had a dead battery and this Sunday when we were supposed to pick up Shirley our bus broke down on the morning route and we were not able to pick her or Sister Kassner up because of needing a lift to transport them in their chair.

We did manage by God’s Grace to get all the children and Brother Kassner to church both Sundays. What a blessing!!!

Please pray for the buses and the routes as the the devil is doing his best to hinder this ministry of the church.

We were on our way home Friday after our trip to the bowling alley with the church. As we headed up Rt 28 I was pulled over by Goshen Police for going to fast in a 45mph zone. I respectfully told the Officer I had my permit to carry a weapon and told him my gun was in the console. He asked for my license and after returning to my car gave me a warning to watch my speed.

He had noticed my guitar in the back seat and asked if I played in band..I said I sing Gospel music and play at church which was where we had been. I asked him if he played…he said he played in a bar band. I said…well officer you gave me something tonight and I would like to give you something too…I handed him a church tract and invited him to church. I told him the Lord was rich in mercy just like you were merciful to me. I pray he may come to church and learn more of God’s Grace & Mercy.

While I regret being pulled over I am thankful the opportunity the Lord gave to witness for Him.

While on visitation we went through the drive through at Goshen McDonalds and I gave a tract to the young man that took my money. Though busy…he graciously accepted the tract and replied “thank you friend”. He did not appear to have much evidence of salvation but he did have a good attitude.

Pray he may read the tract and visit us soon.

It was a blessing to have Brother Jake make the bus visits with me while Brother Davis was out of town attending a funeral.

I then made a visit to the hospital to see Brother Wade Hiles and was able to give his roommate Tim a church tract. He was not real willing to talk a lot so at first I felt fairly unused by the Lord. But then I realized the power is not in us or our ability to talk but in Jesus and His words. The tract I managed to get into his hand can do more than I could anyway. It reminds me of what Brother Sallee says often before we pray and head out to do our visits “pray they would hear God’s Words and not ours.” Please pray for Tim.

Wanda Barker a lady I work with when I spoke to her before… she told me she was saved and a Baptist just not in church. She asked me where I went to church again today and I told her Cozaddale Baptist in Goshen. I told her we had morning and evening services and told her Sandy & I would pick her up if she wanted to go. She said she may want to sometime. Please pray for Wanda that we can someday soon show her “Ohio’s friendliest church. ”

Bus visitation is a blessing to be a part of but it just got better for Brother Shane and I.

Because a couple of the “Kidz” are wanting to come to evening services and men’s fellowships etc. I am talking about the Kassner’s that we met for the first time several weeks ago though they are no strangers to long time Cozaddalians.

Before the Sallee’s left for Christmas in Kansas, Brother Sallee called to ask if I thought Brother Shane and I could pick up an elderly couple at a nursing home on our way in on Sunday. I said I thought we would be able to do it.

Brother Kassner came that Sunday and we had a great time and told him to let us know if he wanted to come back. We waited a couple of weeks and we decided to follow up with him. When we got to his home on that Saturday we had the best visit with him. We shared our lives we laughed  and saw some pretty neat pictures he had of our church members back in the day. Needless to say Shane and I found a great friend.  Sister Kassner came with us the next time and the reunion with the church was sweet. To see the joy and tears well up in their eyes as they enjoy the fellowship is such a blessing to us.

It may cost a little to be a blessing to someone…time, effort, resources. Thank the Lord for Brother Davis willing to use his bus for the Lord. Praise the Lord for Brother Allen willing to lose a couple of his choir men for a few minutes to serve a purpose.  Thank the Lord for Brother Sallee for faithfully pointing Shane & I  as arrows in the right direction to fulfill the will of God. What better way could the Lord reward on earth two faithful servants like the Kassner’s who much of their life was spent serving the Lord and giving for the sake of others and even us who now enjoy the church which they served in many years. We can do no less. To God be the Glory!!!

We as well as the Kassner’s have been inviting other staff from the home to come to church… Jody Gibson (now Jody Reynolds) is one the Kassner’s nurses and she used to come to Cozaddale as a little girl. She said she may visit as early as this coming Sunday.

Please pray God will continue to open doors of witness for the Kassner’s and us. And we will see the fruit of our labor at Cozaddale Baptist Temple. “God Is Good!!!”

Ephesians 5:16 says “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

Brother Davis and I visit our bus route on Saturdays. Occasionally we plan a little deer hunting afterwards and we were going last Saturday. We had visited his sister-in-law Sissy a week or so before trying to get her to go with us to Brother Hottle’s church  some Wednesday night since she lives in Hillsboro. She professes to be saved but has some serious health issues and she said she maybe could when the weather was better.

We got back to the house this past Saturday to get ready to go hunting and got word that Sissy was in the Hospital and would be shipped to Columbus on Monday. Shane asked if I would mind going to see Sissy again, I agreed we should. When we got there we found a very frail, struggling to breath lady who much needed some encouragement and prayer as well as a scared son Beau who is lost or out of God’s will. After a fairly long visit of showing concern …throwing in a little humor and closing the visit in group prayer we departed.

When we got home Shane courteously apologized for not getting to go hunting…I told him to think nothing of it…I would have had it no other way. If our hobbies and entertainment can’t take a back seat to the spiritual needs of others then we will not “redeem the time” as the Bible says. Please pray for Sissy & Melvin Davis
